Run to the Beat: A New Way to Run, Have Fun, and Feel Free!
Our Run to the Beat youth project is all about getting young people moving, feeling great, and enjoying the buzz of running—set to the soundtrack of the latest pop hits! We’re kicking things off in Netherfield and will soon be working with a youth club in Lenton, creating a space where young people can come together, get active, and feel the freedom of running. It’s not about being the fastest—it’s about having fun, getting fresh air, and feeling good inside and out. For many, this is their first time giving running a go, and the impact has been incredible. As Mckenna put it:
“I like running and I do run a lot. I’m going to go to the club again next term. I am now thinking about going to a basketball club. Talked about how it might build up my confidence to get involved in more sports in the community. I don’t know anyone who runs (in my friends/family), but at the session, I met Richard Whitehead. I’ve never done anything like this before. It feels amazing when I’m running – it feels like I’m air, I feel free!”
That’s exactly what Run to the Beat is all about—helping young people build confidence, discover new opportunities, and experience the pure joy of movement. The project is still developing, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us next!
