Join Our Team of Volunteers at Runspire Nottingham!

​​We’re looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help with our running and walking sessions across Nottingham, including Bulwell, Bilborough, Strelley, St Ann’s, The Meadows, Netherfield, and our new locations in Arnold and Hucknall. Whether you're passionate about running, walking, or just want to support your local community, we’d love to have you on board!

Group Leader Roles

Your guide to being a group leader. Runspire Nottingham is dedicated to inspiring communities through running, walking, and Nordic walking. Our Run Leaders, Walk Leaders, and Nordic Walking Leaders play a vital role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes health, wellbeing, and community connections. Becoming a leader with Runspire is an opportunity to make a positive impact on others' lives while enhancing your own skills and experiences. All leaders are expected to uphold and embody the mission, beliefs, and values of: What We Look For: Are you passionate about fitness and wellbeing. Committed to supporting our participants on their fitness and wellbeing journeys. Enthusiastic about fostering a positive and inclusive community atmosphere. Leaders must be willing to commit to delivering at least 2 sessions per month, either as the primary session leader or in a supporting role. Application Process: Initial Application Fill out the Leader Application Form. This form asks for your personal details, motivation for becoming a leader, and your preferred role and location. Your application will be reviewed by our leadership team at the next monthly meeting. Trainee Period: If your application is approved, you will be invited to join as a 'Trainee Leader' for a trial period of 3 months. During this time, learn the ropes, and gain hands-on experience. You’ll receive guidance on the expectations and responsibilities of a leader and be given access to our resources and training materials. During your trainee 3 months, you will be asked to complete a first aid course, risk assessment training, safeguarding training, and review the Mile Shy Club Leader Manual. Training and Certification After the 3-month training period, the trainee can either stay on as a group volunteer or go on to train as a licensed Run Leader by completing the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification. Runspire will subsidise the course cost, with leaders asked to pay a refundable £25 deposit. Details of the course can be found at Leadership in Running Fitness. Walk Leader Training or Nordic Walking Leader Certification is also available for Walk and Nordic Walking Leaders, respectively. Training includes a safeguarding course and DBS check, which will be arranged and covered by Runspire Nottingham. Full Leader Status After completing the trainee period and required training, you will officially become a Runspire Nottingham leader. At this stage, your £25 deposit will be refunded 6 months after qualification. Volunteer Support

Co-ordinators

Role Title: Volunteer Support Co-ordinator
Location: Various locations across Nottingham
Commitment: Flexible, approximately 5 hours per week
Reports to: Project Lead Role Purpose: 
As a Volunteer Support Co-ordinator for Runspire Nottingham, you will focus on providing ongoing support and development to our volunteers. Your role will be essential in fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment that empowers volunteers to contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities: * Act as the main point of contact for volunteers. * Provide ongoing communication, motivation, and support. * Organise training sessions, workshops, and meetings. * Ensure volunteers have the necessary resources and information. * Maintain volunteer records and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies. * Collaborate with the Volunteer Recruitment Co-ordinator to enhance volunteer engagement. Key Skills and Experience: * Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills. * Strong leadership and organisational abilities. * Experience in volunteer management or community engagement (desirable but not essential). * Passion for fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. * Basic IT skills to manage volunteer communications. Volunteer Ambassadors

Position: Volunteer Ambassador
Location: Various locations across Nottingham
Commitment: Flexible, based on availability About Runspire Nottingham:
 Runspire Nottingham is a community-driven charity dedicated to promoting running, walking, and Nordic walking for fitness, wellbeing, and mental health. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to adopt active lifestyles and build supportive communities. Role Overview:
 As a Volunteer Ambassador, you will play a vital role in representing Runspire Nottingham at events, roadshows, and community gatherings. Your primary responsibilities will include raising awareness of our mission, engaging with potential new members, and supporting fundraising efforts. Key Responsibilities: * Represent Runspire Nottingham at local events, roadshows, and community engagements. * Actively promote the charity's services and programs to potential new members. * Assist with fundraising initiatives and encourage donations to support our mission. * Distribute promotional materials and share success stories to inspire participation. * Build relationships with the public, stakeholders, and partners to enhance awareness. * Provide information and answer queries about our sessions and activities. * Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to achieve outreach goals. What We Are Looking For: * Passion for promoting health, fitness, and community wellbeing. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Confidence in engaging with the public and speaking at events. * A friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic attitude. * Willingness to travel to events across Nottingham. * Commitment to Runspire Nottingham's values and mission. Events and Social Coordinators

Position Title: Events and Social Coordinators
 Location: Runspire Nottingham Community (Various Locations)
 Hours: Flexible – based on event schedules and availability 
 Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator Role Overview:
 The Events and Social Coordinator will play a vital role in enhancing the Runspire Nottingham community experience by organising fun, engaging, and inclusive events and social away days. This could include activities like walks to the Peak District, social meet-ups, team-building exercises, and more. The goal is to build a sense of belonging, encourage social connections, and provide opportunities for our members to come together outside of regular fitness sessions. Key Responsibilities: * Plan and coordinate events and social activities, including outings, day trips, and seasonal celebrations. * Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure all events align with Runspire Nottingham’s mission and values. * Promote events through community channels, including social media, email newsletters, and within Runspire Nottingham sessions. * Handle event logistics, including transportation, venue bookings, and necessary permits or approvals. * Collaborate with volunteers and members to gather feedback and improve future events. * Ensure all events are inclusive and accessible, meeting the diverse needs of our community. * Foster a welcoming and friendly environment at events to ensure participants feel comfortable and engaged. * Support in the recruitment and training of additional volunteers for events, as needed. Skills and Qualities: * Passion for community building and social engagement. * Strong organisational and time-management skills. * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. * Creative thinking and the ability to plan and execute events that are fun and memorable. * A proactive approach and ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Previous experience in event coordination is desirable but not essential. * A friendly, approachable demeanor and a commitment to making everyone feel included. Volunteer Office Support

Volunteer Office Administrator Role Title: Volunteer Office Administrator
Location: NBV Enterprise Centre, Nottingham
Commitment: Flexible, ideally 4 -  8 hours per week
Reports to: Runspire Nottingham Leadership Team About Runspire Nottingham:
Runspire Nottingham is a community-driven not-for-profit organisation dedicated to inspiring individuals to lead active lifestyles through running, walking, and Nordic walking. Our mission is to empower people from diverse backgrounds to improve their wellbeing, mental health, and sense of belonging. Role Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Volunteer Office Administrator to support the day-to-day operations of Runspire Nottingham. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth running of our activities and providing administrative support to our team. Key Responsibilities: * Assisting with general administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and document management. * Responding to email inquiries and directing them to the appropriate team members. * Maintaining and updating participant records and session bookings. * Supporting social media updates and communication with participants. * Assisting with the organisation of meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes. * Helping to manage supplies and resources for sessions and events. * Liaising with volunteers and staff to ensure smooth communication. Skills and Experience: * Good organisational and administrative skills. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn new systems. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * A passion for community fitness and wellbeing initiatives is desirable but not essential.
